Terrance McCarthy, Ed D

Dr. Terrance McCarthy is the Webster CSD K-12 Director of Humanities, where he leads and implements numerous instructional programs to improve student achievement. As an equity-focused educator, he initiated and led the district’s DEI efforts and helped to spearhead a regional equity task force. Dr. McCarthy has extensive experience in all aspects of facilitating collaborative systems change, including designing and utilizing of implementation plans, leading professional learning, and engaging in leadership coaching. Prior to his district office experience, Dr. McCarthy served as a high school principal and assistant principal, as well as a classroom teacher.

Dr. McCarthy has presented at the New York State Strengthening Teacher and Leader Effectiveness Conference (2014), New York State Council for the Social Studies (2019, 2020), National Council for the Social Studies (2019), Global Implementation Society (2019), and AASA Annual Conference (2023). He also served as a co-lead for an international webinar series exploring practitioner use of the Global Implementation Society’s Implementation Facilitators Competencies.

Dr. McCarthy earned his doctorate in Executive Leadership from St. John Fisher College, where his research, A Qualitative Study of the Implementation of an Evidence-Based Program in a K-12 Setting, earned him the Exemplary Performance in Scholarship Award.
